FRIZZELL Mystery Two:

Who is Rebecca FRISSIL of Montgomery Co., AL? Rebecca FRISSIL states in Orphan's Court Minutes, Montgomery AL., "I do hereby certify that I have given my approbation and consent for my daughter, Elishaba, to marry Mr. Thomas Hickman. Her father being dead, I am the proper person to give leave." March 17, 1823, signed Rebecca Frissil.

This Rebecca is not listed in either the 1820 or the 1830 Alabama Census. Elishaby was born @1805 in Georgia according to Census reports. She married Thomas William Hickman 17 Mar 1823 in Montgomery Co., AL. According to Wesley Jacobs, the family is listed in the 1830 Pike Co., AL census and removed to Bradley Co, AR shortly thereafter. Thomas Hickman died circa 1848 in Bradley Co., AR and Elishaby lived with his brother John Lee Hickman on the 1850 census. Elishaby died 1 Dec 1882 in Llano Co., TX where she is buried in the Pecan Cemetery. Elishaby and Thomas had 9 children who populated Llano Co., TX.

We still do not know who Elishaby's mother, Rebecca, was married to and who Elishabe's father was. The name Elishaba (and spelling variations) keep cropping up in the FRIZZELL family in Lancaster Co. SC, and Washington Co. GA. We believe that the spelling of FRISSIL is in error and most likely should have been FRIZZELL or FRIZZLE. It is very possible that Rebecca was a member of one of the FRIZZELL families who participated in the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery. She is possibly closely related to Thomas FRIZZELL Sr. of Pike Co. AL.
